Rev. Dr. Donald R. Wood and Mrs. Dorothy A. Wood
Don and Dorothy met at the Student Christian Center at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Soon after they began dating, Don was drafted into the U.S. Army. They were married after his discharge, and Don returned to Clarion University to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in social studies and later his Master of Science degree in communications. Thereafter, Don enrolled at Emory University's Candler School of Theology (GA) and earned his Master of Divinity degree. Later, he earned his Doctor of Ministry degree at McCormick Theological Seminary (IL).
Don and Dorothy returned to Central Pennsylvania with their son to accept an appointment to serve a three-point charge. Later, Don was asked to return to Georgia to manage a communications ministry for the Macon District of the South Georgia Annual Conference. Don, Dorothy, and their two children returned to Georgia on January 1, 1977, and began to build Good News Television (GNTV), which has now become Good News Television Multimedia Ministry.
Dorothy retired after thirty years, having taught elementary school students, worked as a media specialist, and served as a librarian in the Middle Georgia Regional Library System. Don is semi-retired from GNTV Multimedia Ministry after 41 years of working and traveling across the United Methodist connection, including travel to all 50 states and 40 foreign countries.
Don had the pleasure of attending the 1988 General Conference that approved the establishment of Africa University and the organizational meeting for Africa University that was held in Nairobi, Kenya. Don has been to Africa University several times and has experienced the amazing ministry that is taking place there for all of Africa. He has had the opportunity to see first-hand the wonderful work of The United Methodist Church at home and abroad over the last fifty years.
Don and Dorothy are the proud parents of David and Deborah and the even prouder grandparents of Sarah, Hannah, Ruth, and Micah.
