Mr. Ken A. Stoops
Ken was born and reared in Tipton, IN. He attended Indiana University, Bloomington, where he earned his undergraduate degree in music in 1970 and his Master's degree in music in 1971. He spent 18 years in the music business, finally returning to church music with a succession of full-time organist/choirmaster positions in Florida and Maryland. Upon his retirement in 2011, he took a part-time position as organist and director of music at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Altamonte Springs, FL, where he now serves.
Ken has three wonderful sons born of his first marriage and four delightful grandchildren. In 2006, Ken married Lou Ann Smith, a lifelong friend, who passed away in 2007. Ken returned to Orlando upon retirement to be near his family.
Ken feels proud that Africa University nourishes the mind, the body, and the soul as it trains teachers (the mind), nurses (the body), and preachers (the soul). He believes that the university is doing a tremendous service on the continent of Africa, and he wants to be a part of it.
Ken's hobbies are swimming, volunteering, card playing, the German language, and travel. He hopes to travel to Germany next summer!
