Mr . Timothy Pokrywka
Timothy Pokrywka is a professional civil engineer and life-long United Methodist. He was blessed to have parents who saw the value in having a good education as the foundation to a life of service and leadership. He is employed by the California State Department of Transportation and manages a gifted and talented staff of 40. He serves as the lay leader and worship leader of Hope United Methodist Church, South San Francisco. Tim's success would not have been possible without the loving encouragement and support of his parents, Joseph V. and May Lee Pokrywka. Tim's father, who was the son of Polish immigrants, lost his parents at a very early age. His high school guidance counselor mentored him and encouraged him to continue his education after graduating from high school. This decision had a profound effect on Joseph, leading him to serve many years as a teacher who always encouraged his students to seek higher education. Tim's mother, who was also an educator, nurtured and encouraged Tim to be a life-long learner. Tim's maternal grandfather was a high school principal who held a PhD in Education.
Joseph V. and May Lee Pokrywka
Tim is delighted to pass on the gift of education to others through his support of Africa University. He has established the Joseph V. and May Lee Pokrywka Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of his parents.
