Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Lutgen, Jr. and Mrs. Linda L. Lutgen

This past June 11th, Ken and Linda celebrated fifty-three years of marriage. They met during their junior year at Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and married while they were students at the University of Missouri Kansas City. They are the proud parents of three children and prouder grandparents of five grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

Ken served forty-two years under appointment in the Missouri Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church before his retirement in 2011. At present, he is president of KRL Ministries, which provides administrative and financial counsel to local churches, group tours to Africa and Israel, and classes on mission and leadership. Ken earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City in 1970, his Master of Divinity degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in 1973, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Seminary in 1984.

Linda was born in Texas and spent the first twelve years of her life there until the family re-located to Kansas City, Missouri. She is a graduate of Center High School and attended the University of Missouri. She taught pre-school for seven years at Red Bridge United Methodist Church’s Early Childhood Center, and she later worked for the law firm of Spencer Fane Britt & Brown for nineteen years before retiring in 2009.

Ken and Linda have been supporters of Africa University from its inception. Ken was involved in the founding movement to establish a United Methodist-related institution of higher learning on the continent of Africa, and he has served as a member of the Advisory Development Committee since the committee was established in 1992. Ken and Linda’s endowment gift completed the full funding of the Rev. C. Jarrett and Mai Hudson Gray Endowed Scholarship Fund.
